How to Sell a Car Privately in Saskatchewan
SGI provides a Bill of Sale/Letter of Gift form to ensure enough information is included for licensing and registration.

Seller checklist (Saskatchewan)
- Complete and sign the SGI bill of sale form. The form includes the vehicle year/make/model, VIN/serial number, sale price and date, and signatures from both parties.
- Complete the Transfer of Ownership on the registration certificate. The Transfer of Ownership section is on the Saskatchewan Certificate of Registration. Both the seller and buyer must complete and sign it.
Buyer steps after the sale
- Take the completed Bill of Sale and Transfer of Ownership to a motor licence issuer promptly to register the vehicle. Check with SGI or your motor licence issuer for any applicable deadlines.
- A used vehicle being registered in Saskatchewan for the first time, or most recently registered in another jurisdiction, requires a safety inspection.
- SGI notes that VIN status checks and lien searches are available through local motor licence issuers and the ISC Personal Property Registry.
